AKSSW Slug maps

Below are links to the two major pest slug groups. The data from these come from The Alaska Department of Natural Resources Cooperative Agricultural Pest Survey (CAPS), our Pest Reporter, ARCTOS (the UAF Museum Database) and iNaturalist.

These data are a consolidation of various sources. Many have pretty poor accuracy or list only a place name, like “Sitka” for example. However, links are provided to the record if available which may provide a more accurate location as well as additional information like pictures. These maps may be helpful to let you know if you have these two pest species groups present where you live. Or if you are seeing slugs, that they could be one of these pest species groups because they have been found in your area before.

The Arion group consists of:
Arion ater (Linnaeus, 1758)
Arion circumscriptus Johnston, 1828
Arion fuscus (O.F. Müller, 1774)
Arion hortensis (A. Férussac, 1819)
Arion rufus (usually considered Arion ater)
Arion subfuscus (Draparnaud, 1805)
Arion sp. (slugs not ID'd past the genus)
The Deroceras group consists of:
Deroceras agreste (Linnaeus, 1758)
Deroceras laeve (O. F. Müller, 1774)[
Deroceras reticulatum (O. F. Müller, 1774)
Deroceras sp. (slugs not ID'd past the genus)
